A brief history:

Littlewoods mail order was established in 1932, on the back of the success that founder Sir John Moores had with his football pools business. The Littlewoods catalogue was one of the dominant catalogues in the UK mail order business for much of the 20th Century, and has also had an online presence since 2000.

After many decades under the ownership of the Moores family, the Littlewoods business was sold on to the Barclay Brothers in 2003, and the Littlewoods catalogue is now part of the Shop Direct Group.

Two main catalogues are published each year, with a Spring/Summer catalogue for the first half of the year and an Autumn/Winter catalogue for the second half. Several smaller offer booklets are also produced throughout the year. As well as traditional home shopping via the catalogue, the Littlewoods website is now a much more convenient way to browse the products on offer and to place orders.

Product range:

Over 40,000 items are on sale, making Littlewoods something akin to a large department store. There is still a strong emphasis on women’s clothing, but as you would expect there is also a wide variety of items for the home and garden, plus an excellent of gifts.

Orders over £50 from Littlewoods are entitled to free standard (48 hour) delivery, and orders under £50 are subject to a £3.95 charge. Returns are also free. Customers can also apply to operate a credit account, which enables the cost of purchases to be spread over time. Customers with credit accounts can also benefit, from time to time, from ‘buy now pay later’ offers.

Littlewoods has come a long way over the course of history, which spans almost a whole century.
