Marks and Spencer A brief history:

Marks and Spencer began life as a penny bazaar on Leeds market in 1884, under the stewardship of Michael Marks who was a Russian born refugee who had moved to England from Poland. The name Marks and Spencer came in being when Thomas Spencer joined the company ten years later, in 1894. The business built its reputation on selling British sourced products, as well as having one of the most generous returns policies on the British high street, factors which endeared Marks and Spencer to the British public. Its store portfolio also grew, and there are now over 600 stores in the UK alone. Marks and Spencer's first website was launched in 1999.

Marks and Spencer
As well as being an established force on the high street in the UK, Marks and Spencer has also managed to adapt and diversify. These days Marks and Spencer uses home shopping catalogues and its website to enhance its bricks and mortar presence. Unlike several other large retailers, Marks and Spencer has emerged after several periods of recession over recent decades and now appears well positioned to compete by attracting significant numbers of shoppers to purchase using online and offline channels. Brand recognition in isolation is no longer enough to sustain retail empires, as we have seen with the demise of the Woolworths store chain, but good management focus and memorable advertising campaigns, combined with an appealing product offering have stood Marks and Spencer in good stead. It would appear that Marks and Spencer is likely to be a name that appeals to our collective consumer consciences for many more years to come.

Marks and Spencer catalogue
Although Marks and Spencer is better known for its store network, it also uses catalogues, as well as its website, to promote goods and services to consumers. The Marks and Spencer online catalogue includes several thousand different products, and all of these items are available to search directly from the Catalogue Deals website. To search Marks and Spencer items only, the search box at the top of this page is the easiest method. The default order for search results shows the biggest percentage savings, ie: the best deals, first. However, this option can also be changed to order results by price instead. This search facility is available to help you view the lowest priced offers and deals. If you prefer to search across a range of different catalogues, rather than limiting yourself to just the Marks and Spencer catalogue, this is also possible by navigating to the 'Deals' page, and choosing the 'All Catalogues' option from the dropdown list.
